Hello, I am Maria
Project manager. Parent. An expat based in Porto, Portugal.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Portugal wasn't in our long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it started as a work opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more intricate than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, unease, and lots of on-the-job learning. Yet gradually, routines settled in. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began crafting something that felt solid.
Why I Built Harbor Crest Way
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level travel content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to fill that void — practical advice drawn from real-life experiences in Portugal.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on experience from residing in Portugal
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Portugal goes on, and the learning journey continues. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we learn.
If you have questions about family life in Porto or anywhere in Portugal, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
With best wishes,
Maria
